Liverpool doing due diligence now on €116M transfer before Jurgen Klopp gives the green light

Sporting Lisbon's 20-year-old centre-back Ousmane Diomande looks to be one of the most exciting centre-backs on the market at the moment.

However, he will not be cheap. The Portuguese outfit will likely demand "at least" £100 million (€116M), according to sources close to the Liverpool ECHO.

That's an extraordinary amount of money but Diomande is an extraordinary player.

He's got the size and physicality you would expect from a central defender but he also has a football brain. In that position, it's a frightening combo for attackers to come up against.

Liverpool are reportedly scouting Diomande at AFCON where he is representing Côte d'Ivoire.

So far, the six foot two defender has dominated the Primeira Liga in Portugal and seems to have everything needed to become a success in England's Premier League.

Considering the amount of money Sporting will demand to sell him, Liverpool will take their time assessing his suitability to Jurgen Klopp's side.

The German can get the best out of any player but at that price point, he will want to be certain that he's got a world beater on his hands before giving the transfer the green light.
