Liverpool eyeing £70M move for Ousmane Diomande on list of four centre-back targets

Liverpool are considering a transfer for Sporting Lisbon Ousmane Diomande, who is one player on a list of four centre-back targets that includes his teammate, Goncalo Inacio.

While the Merseysiders were not expected to sign a centre-back until the summer, their timeline has been advanced due to Joel Matip's ACL tear.

With the former Schalke star ruled out until the end of the season with an ACL injury and his expiring contract, Matip may tragically never play for the Reds again.

He's been an incredible player for the club when fit but his injury woes seem to have tragically put his Liverpool career to an early end.

Now the club begins the process of signing a young, talented centre-back to replace him.

Liverpool considering £70M Ousmane Diomande transfer as list of targets revealed

The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool are interested in three centre-backs from the Primeira Liga in Portugal and one from the Bundesliga as Klopp searches for Matip's replacement.

Their shortlist includes:

  • Goncalo Inacio (Sporting Lisbon)
  • Ousmane Diomande (also Sporting Lisbon)
  • Antonio Silva (Benfica)
  • Maxence Lacroix (VfL Wolfsburg)

Inacio has been heavily linked with Liverpool in the last few months while Silva and Lacroix have also been mentioned as targets although nothing seems to be active on that front.

Diomande (20) is an exciting target although his prohibitive release clause is set at £70 million and is sure to give Liverpool a major headache if they decide to make their interest in concrete.
