Report: Liverpool targets €30m signing: 'Concrete talks will follow'

The March international break has arrived and with it a number of fresh transfer rumours have surfaced.

This is in spite of the fact that Liverpool have yet to confirm who will manage the club next season after Jurgen Klopp ends his tenure with the Reds at the end of the current campaign.

Liverpool are one of eight Premier League teams targeting a summer move for Beier

According to Bundesliga journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are one of eight Premier League teams interested in making a move to sign Maximilian Beier this summer.

Report: Liverpool targets €30m signing: 'Concrete talks will follow'

Reporting via Twitter, Plettenberg said: “News [on] Beier: A transfer of the 21 y/o top striker from Hoffenheim is planned for the summer!

"It is quite possible that he makes a decision and announces it before the EUROs! Release clause in summer: around €30M …

“Top Bundesliga clubs are interested. BVB is not pushing for him at the moment. The top 8 clubs in England are all monitoring him. Concrete talks will follow. 12 goals and 5 assists this Bundesliga season. Now he is with the national team for the first time.”

How good is Maximilian Beier?

In a technical sense, Beier is a very gifted young player.

He likes to receive the ball to feet and often between the lines which allows Hoffenheim to play a fluid brand of football.

This season, the 21-year-old has 12 goals and five assists in the Bundesliga, according to Transfermarkt, while data from Fbref's database shows he's a very well-rounded player even if there is a lot of room for improvement.

It's no surprise he's popping up on the radar of so many top English clubs as his style of play very much suits the Premier League and its high pace.

At €30 million (£25.6M), it's certainly not a risky signing and given Beier's high ceiling on his potential, it could be yet another genius signing from Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes.

Former sporting director, Edwards, has returned to Liverpool this time in an operational role with FSG while Hughes has just joined the club and is the new sporting director.
