Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah named in provisional England Squad

Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah have been announced in Gareth Southgate's 33-man group, with both Ajax's, Jordan Henderson and Chelsea's, Ben Chilwell missing out.

The final 26-player team will be named on June 8th, ahead of Euro 2024, which takes place on June 14th.

England will face Bosnia and Herzegovina (3rd June) and Iceland (7th June) in the coming weeks before turning their attention to Group C, which includes Serbia, Denmark, and Slovenia in Euro 2024.

Has Quansah got the answer?

The Liverpool rising star has appeared on seventeen occasions in the Premier League.

He has scored twice in his past two games for the Reds and has been an excellent and welcomed addition to the Liverpool backline.

Although the youngster has previously played for England's junior teams from U16s to U21s, winning the U19s Euros in 2022, this is his first taste of senior football for England.

With several players firmly established in the centre back position, like Harry Maguire, John Stones, Marc Guehi, and Connor Coady, the 21-year-old will have to learn and adapt fast if he is to be part of the squad that travels to Germany this summer.

Jones joins up once again

Although Quansah is eligible for the U21s, Curtis Jones is not, having been placed in limbo before to his call-up. Despite this, he accomplished enough to impress Gareth Southgate in his 36 outings for Liverpool.

With the news of former Reds captain Jordan Henderson being dropped, Jones has the perfect opportunity to benefit because there is still a spot to fill.

Joe Gomez, has been chosen once again, and joins up for a second successive time.

Despite having an incredible campaign with the Reds, Harvey Elliott misses out on the 33-man squad once again.
