Report: Liverpool and Chelsea “ready to compete with millions” to win race for €60M ace

According to reports, Liverpool are ready to compete with Chelsea and Juventus for the services of Dutch international Teun Koopmeiners.

Although Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis MacAllister, and Wataru Endo cost a combined £111 million last summer, Slot is expected to spend more money on another midfielder this summer.

The current Atalanta midfielder is valued at £52 million according to the Tutto Atalanta. Teun Koopmeiners is said to be receptive to working with his previous boss, Arne Slot, again.

The report says: "Juventus, Liverpool and now Chelsea are ready to compete with millions" to win the race to sign Koopmeiners.

According to OneFootball, Italian heavyweights Juventus may struggle to fulfil this price tag, making it a two-horse fight between the Reds and Chelsea.

Who is he?

The Oranje presently plays for Atalanta in Serie A and is well-known among Liverpool supporters after appearing in both legs of the Europa League Quarter Finals.

Despite neither scoring or assisting in either game, the midfielder has contributed 22 goals across all competitions this season, including an incredible 17 in Serie A alone.

The 26-year-old is most commonly linked with the midfield as a six or an eight, but he has also played in the back four.

He is frequently lauded for his leadership abilities, as seen by his appointment as captain of AZ Alkmaar under Slot despite his young age.

In addition to his goal-scoring talents, he is frequently praised for his ball-control and ability to carry it. Certainly answers the question of whether he would provide something fresh to the Reds' midfield.

Perfect time to Pounce?

Given the uncertainty surrounding the Dutch midfielder's future, the Reds will need to act quickly, especially if they want to beat Chelsea to his services.

Recently, players such as Moisés Caicedo and Roméo Lavia have chosen Chelsea over Liverpool due to financial incentives.

Arne Slot has vast experience both playing and coaching, notably in the Eredivisie, therefore you feel the Reds should have the edge thus far, especially because both have previously linked up, and Chelsea are currently managerless after Mauricio Pochettino was dismissed yesterday.

Personally, I believe that with Endo approaching 32 next season and Bajcetic still struggling to put together a continuous run of appearances, Koopmeiners would be an excellent addition to the Reds' present roster and for the team for the next five years or so.
