If Liverpool pay £69M, they can conclude "advanced" negotiations for "extraordinary" player
Liverpool are heavily linked with a move to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro but if they wait until the summer as is likely, they will benefit from a discounted transfer fee.
The 18-year-old has burst onto the scene with his displays at the heart of the Ligue 1 outfit's defence and is already considered to be one of the most promising emerging centre-backs.
Thierry Henry called the young French defender "extraordinary" as more and more people take not of his rapidly progressing career.
So, given Liverpool's need for a Joel Matip replacement, Yoro is being considered by the Reds' recruitment staff for a move to Anfield.
Liverpool and Manchester City are reportedly engaging in the most "advanced" negotiations to sign him as Europe takes notice of him.
Liverpool can secure £26M discount for Leny Yoro transfer
According to a report from Fussball.News journalist Christopher Michel, Lille are demanding £77.8 million (€90M) to sell Leny Yoro during the January transfer window but offer a huge discount if clubs hold off until the summer.
By waiting until the end of the season, Liverpool and Manchester City will be able to sign the French prodigy for £26 million (€30M) less which would take the price down to £51.5 million (€60M).
Liverpool certainly will not break their transfer record to sign a teenager - not matter how talented and promising.
That said, £51.5M is a far more acceptable price even if it's still vastly more than the Reds have ever paid for a teenager.
