Liverpool have submitted an opening bid for Arne Slot, manager chase coming to a close

Liverpool have made an official bid for Feyenoord's head coach Arne Slot, as reported by Dutch outlet 1908.nl.

The club submitted an opening bid on Wednesday morning, marking the beginning of what could be a significant transfer involving Feyenoord's current technical staff.

Feyenoord could earn a substantial sum if Slot decides to make the move to Anfield, and the head coach is interested in bringing assistant coach Sipke Hulshoff along with him.

Other members of Feyenoord's technical team are also considered candidates for the move to England.

It was reported on Tuesday evening that Slot is interested in joining Liverpool, indicating that discussions between the two clubs are progressing.

However, Feyenoord's cooperation is expected to come with conditions. The Rotterdam-based club reportedly seeks €15 million for the transfer of Slot, while Liverpool's initial offer is significantly below that amount.

Feyenoord is likely to reject the first bid, but further negotiations are anticipated as Liverpool works to finalise the transfer. Slot's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is now focused on the final contract details for her client, suggesting that the Feyenoord coach could be leaving after a successful three-year tenure.

All the biggest Liverpool journalists have corroborated the story

Now an official breaking story, Liverpool's most trusted journalists are corroborating that the Reds have entered into talks with Feyenoord to sign Slot.

The Times' Paul Joyce reports that Liverpool have indeed opened negotiations with the Dutch club.

His report reads: "The 45-year-old is thought to be keen on replacing Jürgen Klopp, with the Eredivisie champions cancelling a press conference scheduled for Wednesday.

"Liverpool have opened negotiations with Feyenoord in a bid to make Arne Slot Jürgen Klopp’s successor as manager.

"He led Feyenoord to success in the KNVB Cup final last weekend and has compiled a strong body of work in the Netherlands, having led the club to their first Eredivisie title in six years in the 2022-23 season.

"In addition, Slot’s ability to improve players and his aggressive, high-octane playing style are attributes that would appeal to Liverpool’s kingmakers."

Melissa Reddy reports "Liverpool have opened negotiations with Feyenoord over Arne Slot.

"Sources in Holland indicate the process could move quickly with the 45-year-old keen to join the Anfield club."

Liverpool are moving quickly now after walking away from Ruben Amorim talks

After it emerged that Ruben Amorim was in talks with West Ham, Liverpool moved on very quickly to make direct contact with Slot and are now in talks with Feyenoord.

Wow.

It's been a lot to take in over the last few days but it's pretty typical of Liverpool to wind up making their most serious move for a manager that is relatively unknown to most football fans.

However, this is a club that is meticulous when it comes to these type of moves.

The owners have known since November while the players and the public were only made aware in late January. They've been doing the nitty gritty behind the scenes for ages now and we just have to trust they're making the best move for the club as a whole.
